I look back at my time at Shazam as a beautiful adventure. Now I look for new adventures and inspiration from the next generation of change-makers.

The entrepreneurs I invest in expect to learn from my experience. In reality, I learn much more from their vision, their drive and their stories. I am privileged to exchange ideas with some smartest, most dynamic people on the leading edge of innovation. Thanks to them, I feel like I have a front-row view of the future.

What do i mean by
tech for good

I back companies making a positive impact on our planet and society. From climate tech, to supporting women and minority founders. Working with these change-makers is a deeply personal experience, that provides fascinating insights. I call these “postcards from the edge.” Here are a some of the companies I have backed:

I am so proud of MeVitae, one of my early investments in 2018. MeVitae helps companies avoid unconscious bias in recruitment and build a fairer workforce. CEO Riham Satti is a fantastic diversity advocate and unstoppable force of nature. MeVitae is now rapidly growing in the US. Next stop, global expansion!

Dandelion is an incredible geothermal company which powers home heating and cooling. CEO Kathy Hannun developed the idea at Google X, their “moonshot factory.” I was thrilled to invest alongside Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Google Ventures.

OnHand helps businesses engage their employees in community service, connecting them with volunteering opportunities. CEO Sanjay Lobo pitched on Dragon’s Den and got funded! Sanjay has since won the “Entrepreneur for Good” award and an MBE.

I am lucky to learn about a range of technology from my portfolio: AI, Web3, FinTech, climate tech, and frontier technologies. My investments span business, education, healthcare, and climate health.

CAUSES I SUPPORT

Tech Nation’s mission is to catalyse the growth of climate tech in the UK. I serve on the Climate Committee, supporting dozens of climate tech startups. My goal is to build partnerships between corporations and startups to accelerate the transition to net zero.

Reboot the Future is a non-profit guided by a simple vision: treat others and the planet as we would wish to be treated. Led by the inspirational Kim Polman, Reboot the Future runs social impact campaigns, empowers future leaders and supports educators. Reboot the Future’s programmes have opened my eyes to embracing responsible leadership and leading with personal values. As an ambassador, my goal is to share the organisation’s ethos and pass along the inspiration.

The Queens Commonwealth Trust supports young social entrepreneurs who are transforming their communities across the world. The QCT provides these exceptional young leaders with funding, practical tools and support, and a vibrant network. As a long-term believer in the transformative power of youth, I am a donor and advocate for this charity which operates across 56 Commonwealth countries.
